Stacking chairs – answers to common questions

The ever popular stacking chair has been our bestselling style of chair since we started our business over ten years ago, and there are many good reasons as to why it remains so popular.

Our stacking chair is specifically crafted to deliver a comfortable seating position when sat at a table. Because it is designed as a dining chair, it has an upright position and is comfortable both with and without a cushion.

This style of chair is typically used with our extending dining tables, mainly because it’s easy to store any additional chairs if you’re using the table in its un-extended form. Then, as and when required, with the table extended, the spare chairs can be brought out. We should make you aware that the design of our extending table does not allow the stacking chair to be fully pushed under the table, but because the chairs are easy to stack, storing them away when not in use is an easy option.

We strongly advise that you stack no more than four chairs together as more than this can make the stack unstable and therefore unsafe. It may also put too much weight and pressure on the bottom chair, with the risk of opening and weakening its joints.

Stacking vs folding

Customers often ask us whether we think stacking or folding chairs are better?

We would answer by asking ‘how will you be using them and storing them when not in use?’

People often think the folding chair will take less space in storage but in fact, because they stack so neatly, then stacking four chairs will take up pretty much the same space as four folding chairs, providing height isn’t an issue.

Regarding usage, the folding chair does have a slight reclined position, purely because of the folding design. This makes the folding chair slightly more comfortable for lounging as well as dining. If you are looking for a more upright dining position, stacking would be the best option.

The stacking chair and folding chair both come fully assembled so no installation is required.

If you have any questions at all about our stacking or folding chairs, please don’t hesitate to contact us – we would be happy to hear from you.
