While teak garden furniture can be more expensive upfront, its longevity and durability make it a great long-term investment for those looking for high-quality outdoor furniture. Teak's natural oil content helps it cope with rain, sun and frost, so your garden furniture stays looking good with minimal care.
Its timeless elegance and resistance to the elements make it a popular choice for anyone looking to enjoy al-fresco dining and outdoor entertaining.
Indeed, over time, it can actually be more cost-effective than cheaper alternatives that may well age badly and need early replacement.
Yes, teak outdoor furniture is made to stay outside all year round, even during the cold, wet winter months.
Teak is naturally resistant to the challenges of all weathers and is perfectly able to withstand the harshest weather conditions.
You should be aware that over time, as it weathers, teak will lose its initial golden, honey colour, fading naturally into a lovely silvery grey, which some prefer the look of. Leaving your furniture outdoors all year round may speed up this process.
A well‐made teak outdoor dining set can last for decades. Teak is dense, naturally oily and resistant to the elements, which is why teak furniture is used for long-lasting wooden furniture outdoors.
You can expect your teak furniture to last decades with just the minimal amount of care. Some of Britain's oldest teak park benches have been around for a century and are still going strong!
In our opinion ‐ no! But then we would say that of course. So, being serious these are the things that some might see as disadvantages:
Initial cost. Teak is a premium hard wood, making it is an amazing natural resource, but it's also slow growing, which means its availability is limited and that makes it more expensive than mass produced garden dining sets made from plastic or other non-organic materials.
Teak is a heavy wood, which can make it difficult to move or transport and being a natural product it may have some knots or other markings that are natural to the wood, so each piece of furniture will be unique.
Over time, the initial golden colour of the wood will weather to a silvery-grey patina. While this is a natural process and can add a unique character to the wood, it may not be desirable for everyone.
Even though we have listed these as disadvantages ‐ it's possible that you may actually see them as advantages! It is also important to note that the benefits of teak garden furniture, such as its durability, natural beauty, low maintenance and exceptional longevity, will more than outweigh any negatives.
We know how important it is to look after our planet, and we think it imperative that we 'do our bit' in operating a sustainable business. Working with the Trees4Trees™ plantation programme, we've partnered with local Indonesian communities to renew the environment through reforestation services.
All our furniture is V‐Legal certified with the wood coming from documented legal sources. Through our partnership with Trees4Trees we plant two trees for every teak garden dining set that we sell.
